Amefrican Grunges é feitiço e feiticeiro. Luís Augusto, cantor, compositor, violonista, escritor, pintor, cineasta, natural de São Pedro da Aldeia, Região dos Lagos, Rio de Janeiro. Gravado por Ava Rocha — é dele e Negro Leo a canção "Hermética", no álbum Ava Pátria Yndia Yracema — Luís arrisca, em seu primeiro EP, uma síntese que atravessa algumas tradições musicais e espirituais do Atlântico Negro, usando tanto elementos do Delta Blues como noise e psicodelia, criando uma intensa variação entre sonoridades e bradando sua poesia concisa. Amefrican Grunges é poeira de estrelas de sonoridades do Velho Mundo, escombros de Hendrix e do Zamrock da África Austral, navegando por dentro do Delta Yazoo, refluindo até a Tóquio do período Edo, no qual perambulava o solitário Matuso Bashô, retornando de carona easy rider pela América de Clarissa Munger Badger e Ralph Waldo Emerson — isso sem nunca abandonar la haute culture da malandragem do subúrbio carioca, de Aracy de Almeida e Geraldo Pereira. Amefrican Grunges EP deve ser escutado de enfiada e em altíssimo volume. A banda excepcional, formada por amigos de longa data — Manso, Zeni, Renato, Ridolfi, Vovô Bebê — destila meditação e transpiração. A sonoridade se deve à concepção da mixagem de Renato Godoy, que das alucinadas sessões de gravação construiu uma paisagem sonora densa e altamente ritmada, contando com a colaboração de três grandes percussionistas, Harres, Pablo e Índio. A enigmática arte da capa, de autoria do próprio Luís Augusto, compõe uma miríade visual com o encarte criado por Lucas Pires, que podemos caracterizar como uma representação gráfica da psicodelia dos antigos. Por este motivo, "Amefrican Grunges smells like old spirits": evocação para um ritual atemporal, encontro na encruzilhada afro-atlântica das eternas negociações, território e além, técnica e trabalho, escravizados e libertos, capitalistas e desocupados, adoradores do fogo e do petróleo, amantes de deus e do diabo, torpor e eletricidade, grunhidos amefricanos que geraram e deram forma à música da diáspora.

Amefrican Grunges, a spell and sorcerer: Luís Augusto, singer, composer, guitar player, writer, painter, filmmaker, born in São Pedro da Aldeia, Região dos Lagos, Rio de Janeiro. Recorded by Ava Rocha — it is his and Negro Leo's song "Hermética", on the album Ava Pátria Yndia Yracema — Luís take risks in his first EP, creating a synthesis that crosses some musical and spiritual traditions of the Black Atlantic, using both elements of the Delta Blues, noise and psychedelia, creating an intense variation between sounds and screaming his poetry. Amefrican Grunges is stardust from the Old World sounds, rubble from Hendrix and Southern Africa's Zamrock, sailing through the Delta Yazoo, flowing back to Edo period Tokyo in which the solitary Matuso Bashô roamed, returning from an easy rider ride across America of Clarissa Munger Badger and Ralph Waldo Emerson — without ever abandoning the "haute culture" trickery of Rio's suburbs of Aracy de Almeida and Geraldo Pereira. Amefrican Grunges is to be listened at once and at high volume. The band, formed by longtime friends Manso, Zeni, Renato, Vovô Bebê e Ridolfi, elevates thought to both meditation and perspiration. The sound is due to the design of the mixing by Renato Godoy, who built a dense and highly rhythmic soundscape from the hallucinated recording sessions, with the collaboration of three great percussionists, Harres, Pablo and Índio da Cuíca. The enigmatic cover art by Luís Augusto himself, composes a visual myriad with the booklet created by Lucas Pires, a graphic representation of the psychedelia of the ancestors. That's why "Amefrican Grunges smells like old spirits": the evocation of a timeless ritual, a meeting at the Afro-Atlantic crossroads of eternal negotiations, territory and beyond, technique and work, enslaved and freed, capitalists and unemployed, worshipers of fire and oil, lovers of god and the devil, torpor and electricity, Amefrican grunts that generated and shaped the music of the diaspora.
